Different Sidebar for Blog Page

Hi – I was trying to tweak my sidebar to be different for my “blog” page.

Can you help me with the steps?
I tried going under “Pages” -> “Blog” -> “Sidebar Setting” and change to custom sidebar, but it didn’t seem to change the Blog Page.

How to assign different sidebars for different pages

Step 1

Go to Appearance > Contango Options > Sidebar Settings
Add New Sidebar say “Blog” and Save Changes

Step 2

Go to Pages > Add New

See Sidebar Settings Meta box below the editor
Select Yes to Use Custom Sidebar
Select your newly created sidebar “Blog” from sidebar drop down menu

Note:

If you are planning to create page with Right Sidebar than Default Template is fine in the Page Attributes Meta box
If you are planning to create full width page than select Full Width Widgetized Template.

Publish or Update the page

Step 3

Go to Appearance > Widgets

You will see your newly created sidebar “Blog” there, Now drag/drop widgets in this sidebar.

Now this sidebar is attached to your Blog page and your Blog page will show widgets from this sidebar.
